Artist-in-Residence

Susan Lynne Peters works in watercolour and gouache, painting landscapes and early 20th-century rural buildings inspired by time spent exploring the Rideau Lakes region. She’s especially drawn to light and atmosphere, often letting light become the focal point of a painting. Her work leans toward realism but allows room for abstraction, embracing the unexpected colour mixing and watery effects that come with water-based paint. Subjects reflect a personal interest in history, the natural environment, rural living, and travel.
Susan studied art at Sheridan College (Oakville) and completed year long drawing & painting /mentorship programs with Ian Roberts (painter & author of Mastering Composition), and Andy Evansen (Signature Member of American Watercolor Society and Plein Air Painters of America). She has also taken short courses with Richard Thorn, Paul Talbot-Greaves and Mike Hernandez . Susan is an associate of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, and a member of the International Watercolor Society (IWS~Canada), and the Rideau Lakes Artists' Association.
In 2026, she plans to develop her practice of plein air painting, and organize workshops / art shows for the Harbourside Gallery.
